## Setup

### How do I start?

Sign in with Twitch at app.veylark.tech and accept the terms. Then describe your first rule in one sentence. Until your channel is connected to the real chat, you try everything in the simulator.

### How do I connect my Twitch chat?

In Settings under Twitch, click "Connect to Twitch chat". botVeylark becomes a moderator in your channel and receives the chat messages.

### What do my mods need?

Just their Twitch account. Mods sign in with "Log in as a mod" and see every channel they moderate that uses Veylark. You decide what they may do.

## Rules

### How do I write a good rule?

The way you would explain it to a new mod: one sentence on what should stay out of the chat, plus a few examples. The rule assistant suggests examples and asks at most two follow-up questions.

### What does the threshold mean?

Veylark gives every message a confidence between 0 and 1 per rule. Only from your threshold (default 0.80) does anything happen. Just below it, the message lands in the log as "uncertain" and you decide.

### What is test mode?

New rules first only write to the log without deleting anything. Once the hits are right, you switch the rule live.

### What do I do about a false alarm?

Click "False alarm" in the log. The message becomes a counter-example for the rule. You can undo timeouts and bans there with one click as well.

## Word list and exemptions

### What is the word list for?

For fixed terms that should always be deleted. It works without AI and keeps running when the month's quota is used up.

### Who is exempt?

By default the streamer, mods and VIPs. Subs from a tier and an allowlist are set in Settings.

## Protection package

### What is the protection package?

The Managed Ruleset with ready-made categories against racism, discrimination, hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content, doxxing, scams and attempts to manipulate the bot. It is an add-on to the paid plans and runs together with your own rules.

## Privacy

### Does Veylark store chat messages?

Messages are checked, not stored. Only messages Veylark acted on stay in your channel's log for 30 days.

### What happens when I disconnect my channel?

You disconnect the channel in Settings. Veylark then removes the bot from your channel and deletes your channel's data.

## When something goes wrong

### What does "Moderation disrupted" mean?

The overview shows what is missing right now: for example chat delivery from Twitch, botVeylark's mod role or the AI check. When in doubt, Veylark does not step in; the word list keeps working.
